Abandoned Pianoforte factory - Roade - Northamptonshire
While studying for my Art & Design Foundation Course I decided to look into derelict places as I have always found these to be much more interesting that the more modern buildings we have today. There is something about exploring a place your not allowed to be in that makes the whole building much more alive and exciting.
These images are from the 'Pianoforte factory' which is hidden in a small village called Roade. In 1923 the factory became‘Pianoforte supplies Ltd’ which was the production of fixtures for Piano manufacturers. In 1933 the factory set alight and burned this was rebuilt later that year. During WWII the factory went into production creating spare vehicle and aircraft parts. In 1980 the factory stopped the production of piano parts. A small part of the factory is still operational. These photographs are from part of the abandoned section.
